Plexigen incorporated in North Carolina in 1999 and is a privately held biotechnology company.
The company's core technology in microarray design utilizes an elegant and patented design of the geneCard™ and a proprietary
method of stacking the geneCards to form a
geneCube™ to do highly parallel experiments.
This microarray is more powerful, accurate, quality assurable and more cost effective than presently available microarrays.
Customers of Plexigen's products will include pharmaceutical, biotech and genomics companies, clinical research organizations,
hospitals, physicians, laboratories, universities and governments in the US and internationally.
Plexigen is staffed with outstanding and well-credentialed experts in the areas of molecular biology,
chemistry, engineering, statistics and bioinformatics. The company is located in Cary, North Carolina in the heart
of the Research Triangle.

Ben Hui Liu, Ph.D. Founder and Chairman
Ben has a Ph.D. in Genetics and Statistics and is an Associate Professor of Genomics Sciences and Bioinformatics
at North Carolina State University. He is the sole author of
Statistical Genomics: Linkage, Mapping, and QTL Analysis
, a textbook used at a large number of universities and was on the scientific book best-seller list by Amazon.com.
Ben has extensive industry contacts in the genomics area and pharmaceutical industry and is an inventor for several
key patents in microarray technology.
Ross Whetten, Ph.D. VP of Molecular Biology
Ross has a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology. He is an Associate Professor at NCSU with comprehensive knowledge in genomics.
He is recipient of a large number of government and private grants and an inventor of a number of genomics-related patents.
Jeffrey SooHoo, Director of Engineering
Jeffrey has a MS in Biomedical Engineering and twelve years experience in product design and project management.
His main focus has been developing biosensors and instrumentation with both commercial and military applications including
developing chemical and biological warfare sensors at the Naval Research Laboratory.
He is currently completing his Ph.D. at the joint UNC-NCSU Department of Biomedical Engineering.

Thomas D'Alonzo, J.D.
Tom is the former President of Glaxo and the former President and COO of
Pharmaceutical Product Development (PPDI). Tom is active in National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) affairs
and has advised several biotech start-ups. He is currently on the board of Salix Pharmaceuticals (SLXP).
Ron Doggett,
Ron led the LBO of GoodMark Foods from General Mills in 1982. He took GoodMark Foods
public (NASDAQ) in 1985. After the sale of GoodMark Foods to ConAgra Foods in 1998, Ron retired as Chairman/CEO in
1999. Ron is active in NACD affairs, serves as Executive in Residence at N.C. State University's College of Management,
and currently serves on the boards of several companies in the Raleigh area including non-profits and venture backed
start-ups.
Mitch Javidi, Ph.D.
Mitch is the CEO and President of The Catevo Group, Inc., a technology and business consulting company specializing in
integrated communications, supply chain management, brand management, research, logistics and creative services.
He was the founder and CEO of Digiton Corporation. Mitch is an honorary member of the US Army Special Operations Command,
a member of the Academy of Outstanding Teachers at NC State University and an adjunct professor of management at NC State.
